"I am the typical woman's story. First it’s the career, then marriage, followed by kids. Time is no longer your own. You resign yourself to "maturity", "filling out" or whatever euphemism for middle age that helps sooth the fact that you are simply overweight, unfit and probably unhealthy.

I’m here to say that it doesn’t have to be that way. I don’t care how old you are, how many kids you have or how little time you think you have. The power rests within yourself to enact any change in your life that YOU desire. And I can say this because I have seen it happen in myself.

After that fateful day of clarity, I made a decision to change my life. Not a vague, wishy-washy notion that I should "get in shape", maybe "eat better" or possibly "go on a diet", but rather a specific long-term plan to enhance my wellness in a way that would not only stick, but most importantly fit within the parameters of my busy life.

Change is never easy. And despite what you may see advertised, I’m sorry to say there is no secret diet, mystery potion or overnight miracle that will do it for you. But there is a solution, and that solution lies within you.

The immediate result was a rather surprising and unexpected increase in my energy levels, leading to a very gradual desire (yes desire) to exercise. In 10 months I lost 60 pounds and developed a passion for weight training and bicycling. These days, I suffer when my day does not include a trip to the gym—but the "old me" would suffer on a day without sweet treats and can(s) of pop.

I look forward to coming to Fit4Life on a regular committed schedule that fits my life. When I am there I feel like I am at home…comfortable and welcomed. Dave and his team are wonderful, always helping me to meet my goals and stay motivated." -Joyce Barlow

Joyce has a clear handle on the fact that mental roadblocks are the key to success to living life with the health and body you want. Most women struggle with their weight not because they don't know that eating less and exercising more leads to weight loss, but they have low self-esteems and low levels of believe in themselves. Perhaps it starts in childhood when parents tell their daughters they "can't" do certain things and later in marriage husbands often erode their wives self-confidence. When a person gets past these self-limiting beliefs, not only is a desired body and health accomplishable, other goals in life don't seem impossible.

Joyce also made a wise investment in getting help to help her in her weight loss journey. The result of which was learning how to develop a realistic eating plan as well as a proper exercise routine for results. But perhaps the most value came in having a coach to help keep her on track, answer questions and to work through inevitable roadblocks that cause others to fall well short of their goals.

Congratulations Joyce on your success and being such a super member and proponent of Fit4Life!
