"For 20 years I coached High School Wrestling for La Crescent and was always in good shape and weighed in at a steady 180 pounds. My last year of coaching was 2000, when I moved to Waseca, MN to work for Hormel Foods in Austin, MN. My job was in management and I was more and more working behind a desk and making excuses about not getting to the gym to lift weights or do some aerobic work. The Summer of 2008, I was up to 217 pounds and looked unhealthy, my son, Brandon suggested I get back in the gym because I wasn’t fit like I used to be.
I transferred to Sparta in Sept. of 2008 to work for Century Foods & found out that Fit4Life was part of the complex. What a wonderful facility it is and the staff are so helpful & friendly.
I began working out during my lunch hour with my boss, Wade Nolte and slowly but surely, the weight started coming off and my shape started to come back. I changed my diet so I was eating a lot more healthier & lifting weights 3 to 4 x’s a week and doing cardio twice per week.
In June of 2010, I was down to 169 pounds and feeling great. May 21, 2011, I did an all- natural bodybuilding competition with my son, Brandon. I weighed 172 pounds and looked good. I placed 5th in the Grand Master Division (50 & over) and my son placed 4th in the novice tall division. What an experience and a great feeling to do something that was on my bucket list. Maybe, I’ll do another competition some day.
Thanks Dave, Kammie & Ann for all of your support and making Fit4Life a fun and wonderful experience for all. If it wasn’t for Fit4Life and the flexible hours and great staff, I would still be over weight. Now I’m in good shape and eating healthy again, it feels great and I won’t let myself get where I was before!”
Bob is an inspiration to men of all ages, but mostly to men over 50. He is living proof that it is never too late to get into the best shape of your life! It takes a lot of stamina, hard work & discipline to compete in a bodybuilding competition, not to mention.... guts!
We are fortunate to have Bob here at Fit4Life, inspiring and demonstrating to others that one can do anything when you keep your eyes on your goal! Kudos to you, Bob! Keep up the great work and congratulations on the bodybuilding competition.”
